Katanokamo Pond is a wetland registered under the Ramsar Convention, and it is one of the largest wintering grounds for wild ducks in western Japan. There are always rangers on duty at the observation, so you can easily ask questions, making it a good place for families and beginner birdwatchers to enjoy. The season for watching wild ducks is in fall and winter, but there are events for enjoying the wetlands in summer as well.

The Edo-period residence of a Kitamaebune ship captain and the Japanese garden are open to the public. There is also a tea room where you can enjoy the view of wild plants and flowers. Experience the way of life of the captain of a kitamaebune ship in the olden days. There is also a shop that sells antique artwork.

Inside the grand home of a kitamaebune ship captain built in 1876, there are exhibits of boat models, ship chests, sailing equipment, and a variety of materials used in daily life during that period. The building was designated a cultural property by the city of Kaga.

Located in Echizen Kaga Kaigan Quasi-national Park, this cape features a rugged coastline and sheer cliffs. Legend tells that a nun threw herself into the sea to pray for Yoshitsune’s safe escape. It is connected to the service area on the highway bound for Kanazawa, and there is a highway bus stop nearby.

This small pond is located on the ancient Genpei battlefield where the Heike and Kiso Yoshinaka armies were defeated in the Battle of Kutsukara in 1183.

This facility explains the wonders of snow and ice, along with the achievement and experiments of the snow scientist who said, “Snow is letters sent from heaven.”
The facility will be closed from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026 for restoration work related to the Noto Peninsula earthquake of 2024. (The period closed may be shortened, depending on restoration work progress.)

Located in the center of the hot spring quarter by the shores of Lake Shibayama, it is connected by a pier to Ukimi-do Temple, associated with the legend of the dragon king. Pleasure boats for lake cruises dock here, and you can enjoy the scenery of the Lake Shibayama fountain and the Hakusan mountains.

The glass-walled building on the shores of Lake Shibayama was designed by the internationally-renowned architect Yoshio Taniguchi. Enjoy the Katanoyu bath with lake view, and the Morinoyu bath with a garden view. In the cafe on the second floor, you can try sweets made with Kaga specialty ingredients, and take in a sweeping view of the lake from the terrace.

We have many works by artists associated with Kaga City, which we introduce at exhibitions such as museum masterpiece exhibitions.
The museum also serves as a place for the city's residents to conduct artistic and cultural activities, and we hold all sorts of exhibitions throughout the year.

Sugo Ishibe Shrine is an ancient shrine with a history spanning 1,400 years. The "Gogan Shinji" ritual, held on February 10th every year, is commonly known as the Takewari Festival, and is a spectacular ritual where young people break hundreds of green bamboos. During the summer festival "Tenjinko" (July 24th to 26th), a special ritual of purification is held every day, and a rare children's dance called "Butterfly Dance" is performed.

Family temple of the Daishoji clan leaders. It holds the graves of many historic clan leaders. Famous for its fall foliage, the peak time for viewing in early September.
Viewing is currently not possible due to safety checks related to the 2024 earthquake.

The family temple of the Yamaguchi Genba, former lord of Daishoji Castle, the poet Basho and his apprentice Sora stayed here during the journey recorded in Oku no Hosomichi. Statues of 500 arhats are enshrined in the annex.
