Kamoike Observation Center

Katanokamo Pond is a wetland registered under the Ramsar Convention, and it is one of the largest wintering grounds for wild ducks in western Japan. There are always rangers on duty at the observation, so you can easily ask questions, making it a good place for families and beginner birdwatchers to enjoy. The season for watching wild ducks is in fall and winter, but there are events for enjoying the wetlands in summer as well.

Kitamaebune Ship Captain’s Residence - Zorokuen

The Edo-period residence of a Kitamaebune ship captain and the Japanese garden are open to the public. There is also a tea room where you can enjoy the view of wild plants and flowers. Hashitate Fishing Port

A fishing port that is a symbol of Minami Kaga, there are many restaurants and seafood shops nearby. Recommended for lunch or a pleasant stroll.

Amagozen Cape

Located in Echizen Kaga Kaigan Quasi-national Park, this cape features a rugged coastline and sheer cliffs. Legend tells that a nun threw herself into the sea to pray for Yoshitsune’s safe escape. It is connected to the service area on the highway bound for Kanazawa, and there is a highway bus stop nearby.

Katayamazu Onsen

Located in the center of the hot spring quarter by the shores of Lake Shibayama, it is connected by a pier to Ukimi-do Temple, associated with the legend of the dragon king. Pleasure boats for lake cruises dock here, and you can enjoy the scenery of the Lake Shibayama fountain and the Hakusan mountains.

Katayamazu Onsen Soyu

The glass-walled building on the shores of Lake Shibayama was designed by the internationally-renowned architect Yoshio Taniguchi. Enjoy the Katanoyu bath with lake view, and the Morinoyu bath with a garden view. In the cafe on the second floor, you can try sweets made with Kaga specialty ingredients, and take in a sweeping view of the lake from the terrace.

In 1915, the young woodcarver Fukuda Taikan (later known as Kitaoji Rosanjin) stayed in this home, developing a friendship with the patrons of Yunogawa while carving signboards. There are also regularly scheduled exhibitions. Discounts are available for groups and seniors.

Kutaniyaki Kiln Exhibition Pavilion

In addition to the remains of the Kutaniyaki Kiln (a nationally-designated historic site), this facility also has the oldest surviving Kutaniyaki climbing kiln and an exhibit of a restored old kiln (both designated important cultural properties by the city of Kaga). You can also experience ceramics painting and throwing a pot on the wheel, and there are popular exhibitions about the Kutani revival four times a year.

Awazu Onsen Soyu

Awazu Onsen Soyu bath is colorless, transparent, and smooth on the skin. It is a sodium sulfate and chloride-type spring (hypotonic, alkalescent, and high-temperature water) and is apparently effective at alleviating nerve pain, muscle pain, skin diseases, and so on.

Misho（Maruhachi Seichajo）

Iburihashi prospered as an inn town during the era of clan rule, and it is famous for its unusual Guzu Matsuri festival (late August). It is a 13-minute walk from the Hashimoto Sake Brewery to Sabo Misho. The area called Iburihashi is home to the Kaga Bocha tea factory and Joshoji Temple, associated with Rennyo Shonin.

Sugo Ishibe Shrine

Sugo Ishibe Shrine is an ancient shrine with a history spanning 1,400 years. The "Gogan Shinji" ritual, held on February 10th every year, is commonly known as the Takewari Festival, and is a spectacular ritual where young people break hundreds of green bamboos. During the summer festival "Tenjinko" (July 24th to 26th), a special ritual of purification is held every day, and a rare children's dance called "Butterfly Dance" is performed.

Yoshizaki Gobo Rennyo Shonin Memorial Hall

A museum which presents the legends and sacred treasures associated with Rennyo Shonin, a great hero of Hokuriku. A narrator will provide informative commentary. The adjoining cafe and gift shop Hookaku (free admission) offers a fantastic view of Kajima no Mori nature preserve on Lake Kitagawa. There is also a popular experience workshop where you can make prayer beads.

Katayamazu Onsen Soyu

The glass-walled building on the shores of Lake Shibayama was designed by the internationally-renowned architect Yoshio Taniguchi. Ishikawa Aviation Plaza

This is the only aviation museum on the Sea of Japan coast, where 17 aircraft, from jet fighters to small aircraft, are on display. There is also a YS-11 that was actually used by All Nippon Airways and a basic simulator. Visitors can play on one of the largest airplane-shaped playgrounds in Japan without having to worry about the weather.

Komatsu Airport

Komatsu Airport is the gateway to Hokuriku by air, providing regular flights on six domestic airlines and three international airlines.
